Guanabo is a beach town in the City of Havana Province of Cuba . It is located within the city of East Havana halfway between the center of Havana and Santa Cruz del Norte, at the mouth of the Guanabo River, between the Atlantic Ocean coast and the Sierra del Canchón (mountain range).
Guanabo is a seaside tourist town, with small scale villas and a few low rise hotels.
The photographs in this gallery are of the ruins of the Beach Club of the Union workers of the Cuban Telephone company. When Castro came to power in the late 1950s workers unions were outlawed and clubs like this one were taken by the state and now stand in ruins.
